FELLOWSHIP PROGRAMME AT
KENIA EYE HOSPITAL, MUMBAI

The program is targeted towards ophthalmologists who have completed their basic training, or are practicing, and need to upgrade their skills. A platform to get exposed to latest techniques and technologies. Experience working in a private setup and gain skills to independently make clinical decision and surgeries, would be also exposed to academics, research and publications.


PHACO FELLOWSHIP PROGRAMME: DURATION 12 MONTHS

  • 3 months orientation phase with basic SICS
  • 9 months of Phaco
  • At the end of course would be able to independently perform phaco in a skillful manner

REMUNERATION

  • Attractive stipend will be offered.
  • Working hours: 7.00 am - 8.30 pm
  • Accommodation: Is not provided, but can be guided.
  • Weekly seminars or lectures for fellows: Weekly seminars, consultant classes, journal clubs, wet labs as necessary before hands on surgery.
  • Community outreach program: Community outreach programs and surgical camps are conducted regularly.
  • Hands on surgical experience: Adequate surgical training will be given.
  • Certification: Certificates will be given at the end of the course.

REQUIREMENT / ELIGIBILITY

MS / DO / DNB / FRCS in ophthalmology (Registered with any state medical council or MCI New delhi)

INTAKE

Batch starts in January and July every year (1 candidate per session)


PHACO & REFRACTIVE FELLOWSHIP PROGRAMME: DURATION 18 MONTHS

  • Structured and supervised training in cataract surgery (SICS and Phaco)
  • Hands on training in Wetlab
  • Observation in refractive procedures LASIK / PRK / Femto /C3R
  • Be able to independently perform phaco in a skillful manner
  • Be able to conduct examination on Pentacam / Corvis / Epithelial thickness (ASOCT)
  • Perform Refractive procedures under supervision

SHORT TERM BASIC PHACO TRAINING PROGRAMME : Duration 15 days

  • Live demo of phaco surgeries
  • Hands on patients surgically
  • Surgical steps depending on surgical skill
  • Lecture on phaco dynamics
  • Be able to independently perform phaco in a skillful manner

REMUNERATION

  • Accommodation: Is not provided, but can be guided.
  • Weekly seminars or lectures for fellows: Weekly seminars, consultant classes, journal clubs, wet labs as necessary before hands on surgery.
  • Hands on surgical experience: Adequate surgical training will be given.
  • Certification: Certificates will be given at the end of the course.

  • Well versed with basic skills in SICS
  • MS / DO / DNB / FRCS in ophthalmology (Registered with any state medical council or MCI New Delhi)

SHORT TERM ADVANCE PHACO TRAINING PROGRAMME: Duration 15 days

  • Direct one to one teaching
  • Supervised learning
  • Video recording of surgery wherein each case can be reviewed and discussed about the fallacies and way to improve
  • Be able to independently perform phaco in a skillful manner

REMUNERATION

  • Accommodation: Is not provided, but can be guided.
  • Weekly seminars or lectures for fellows: Weekly seminars, consultant classes, journal clubs, wet labs as necessary before hands on surgery/ phacodynamics lectures.
  • Hands on surgical experience: Adequate surgical training will be given.
  • Certification: Certificates will be given at the end of the course.

REQUIREMENT / ELIGIBILITY

  • Those who are able to perform phaco but require fine tuning and polishing
  • MS / DO / DNB / FRCS in ophthalmology (Registered with any state medical council or MCI New Delhi)
