Warning Signs for Vision Problem to Look Out for

Some eye diseases that lead to blindness can be avoided or cured if people would've taken the warning signs seriously and consulted the eye doctor immediately.

A regular checkup can be helpful in detecting eye diseases and curing the symptoms before it is too late. Conditions such as glaucoma can be avoided if it is treated at early stages.

If you experience any of the following symptoms, book an appointment with Kenia Eye Hospital right away.

1. Flashing Lights & Floaters.

Floaters are the spots in vision that look like black or gret specks or strings that drift across the eyes. Mostly light flashes or floaters are caused by age-related changes. If there is a sudden increase in floaters, you must get it treated before it leads to an eye disease or something worse.

2. Sudden Vision Loss in any one eye.

Macular degeneration, also known as age-related macular degeneration, is a leading cause of loss of vision in people aged 65 or above.

Another example for sudden vision loss could be glaucoma. There are various other conditions that cause persistent loss of vision.

3. Eye Injury

Eye injuries can cause pain, swelling and redness in no time. It is always advised that an injured eye should be examined by an ophthalmologist immediately.

4. Discomfort

If you experience any discomfort in your eye during activities or wearing contact lenses, don't start rubbing it rigorously. Have your eyes checked for a slightest discomfort.

5. Eye Redness

Eye redness can be an indicator of a deeper inflammation such as scleritis or uveitis. It happens when the blood vessels on the surface of your eye expand or dilate.

6. Eye Pain

Most eye conditions are painless and hence, we don't take immediate action, but some injuries or diseases can be a result of eye pain. It can be caused by dry eye, scratching heavily or even glaucoma.

7. Blurred Vision

Blurred vision can invite a number of eye problems, though it is not taken seriously as it should.

8. Complications after Eye Surgery

If you've had eye surgery and experience any complication that wasn't mentioned by your eye doctor, you need to take actions right away. Your delays can affect the surgery more.
